Remit

To care for and develop the Church building to provide the best facilities for the varied activities of the community

Aims

  • To improve the security of the Church
  • To provide for the needs of the disabled in Church
  • To plan and implement a programme for necessary maintenance and refurbishment work
  • To devise and implement a permanent solution to maintenance of Hope Street cemetery
  • To consider the needs of the Church and wider community and develop plans for a Parish hall and its long term use and maintenance
  • To consult members of the Parish about their ideas for ways in which the Church can be developed

Witness

Remit

To communicate to the whole community our mission and life

Aims

  • To reach out to young families through social evenings three times a year
  • To consider ways in which we as a community can reach out to and meet groups and individuals within the wider community such as the unemployed, the over 60s
  • To monitor the way the Church communicates its life to the community using the communications check list from the Good Parish Practice session on communications
  • To train a team of stewardship visitors to develop and maintain contact with parishioners

Wealth

Remit

To provide the financial resources for the maintenance and development of the whole work of the Church

Aims

  • To make all members of the Church aware of their responsibilities for the work of the Church
  • To increase regular planned giving of the Church by
    • encouraging more people to be involved in planned giving
    • encouraging giving in relation to income
    • encouraging taxpayers to covenant or gift aid their giving

Wisdom

Remit

To develop opportunities for growth in the Christian faith for all ages

Aims

  • To develop a regular pattern of Bible study groups, at least one series per term using different approaches and themes
  • To make use of Diocesan training courses such as "Good Parish Practice", and encourage as many people as possible to be involved and to feed information and ideas back into the Parish
  • To encourage the training of Children's group leaders through Kaleidoscope, and Youth Group leaders through Spectrum courses
  • To develop a regular ongoing opportunity to study, discuss, and reflect on the Christian faith

Welfare

Remit

To speak of the love of God through caring action

Aims

  • To expand the Pastoral visiting team after suitable training, and to continue their ongoing development
  • To increase the number of Pastoral Auxiliaries
  • To develop a comprehensive Street Watch system
  • To reach out to other members of the wider community through visiting those in need
  • To develop our ministry to the bereaved
  • To develop our ministry to the families of the newly baptised
  • To develop our ministry in the field of marriage
    • in the preparation of couples for their marriage
    • in supporting newly married couples
    • in support for those experiencing difficulties or breakdown in marriage

Worship

Remit

To develop modes of worship that enable all ages and types of people to engage in the worship of God

Aims

  • To provide an act of worship particularly designed by and for young people three times a year coinciding with college and university holidays
  • To decide on a Parish pattern of worship in the light of the new liturgy, and how it will be introduced and implemented
