Mothers Union

We recently hosted the Mothers’ Union Deanery Festival which was a great success. Our sister branches in the Deanery came to join us for a communion service. The service started with a procession of the branch banners and several long service awards were also presented. After the service we all enjoyed the refreshments and a chat with other branch members.

The speaker at our May meeting was Gill Beeley. She came to speak to us about Together Lancashire. This is a group comprised of churches in the Blackburn Diocese, churches in the local Methodist circuit and the Church Urban Fund. Together they help to coordinate needs in the community. Gill spoke to us about food poverty, especially for children, its causes and possible solutions.

Together Lancashire has been helping to raise awareness of the problem of children having no access to regular, healthy meals. Gill also talked to us about the importance of food banks and cooperatives.
