Dignity and Hope

harvest

The Bishop of Blackburn’s Harvest appeal for 2019 was entitled ” Dignity and Hope”. As we celebrated God’s good gifts at our Harvest church service donating to our local food banks we will try to help others do the same. Generosity from all churches in the diocese at Harvest time went to help the people in Malawi and Honduras enjoy the benefits of a rich harvest. The appeal gifts are going to help Friends of Mulanje Orphans bring hope to vulnerable children in Malawi, and help Christian Aid empower women in Honduras to take the lead in tackling climate change.

At our Lighthouse Harvest service our church groups decorated each window showing our versions of “Dignity and Hope” in the world. Our children took part in planting mustard seeds showing how we can care for things and show love to others, they made a world out of recycled bottle tops and shone a torch through it to show the light of God in our world and how we need to look after it. Here are some of the photo’s taken from the service.
